Description

Kid's Book Club July

This month's book club will be a little different. We are partnering with Bookopolis to join their Virtual Summer Book Club that will be held on ZOOM on Thursday, July 18th at 4pm CT.

We will be discussing two realistic books full of mystery that tackle anti-racism and identity in different ways. Readers should choose ONE of the following:

What Lane? by Torrey Maldonado (144 pages)

Hold on tight as Stephen swerves in and out of lanes to find out which are his--and who should be with him. Torrey Maldonado, author of the highly acclaimed Tight, does a masterful job showing a young boy coming of age in a racially split world, trying to blaze a way to be his best self. Recommended for 4th-8th grade readers.

Maizy Chen's Last Chance by Lisa Yee (288 pages)

Twelve year-old Maizy discovers her family’s Chinese restaurant is full of secrets in this irresistible Newbery Honor novel that celebrates food, fortune, and family. Recommended for 3rd-8th grade readers.
