My neighbor Julie reached out to ask if Austin Allies could supply volunteers to help with Keller Williams' annual food collection drive benefiting the Central Texas Food Bank. She is looking for 9-10 families who can spend an hour or two (depending on how fast you move!) distributing collection bags to specific homes in the Circle C neighborhood. All this would require is meeting Julie at the Community Center the morning of October 7, receiving your bags (likely around 100) and street assignments, and placing them on doorknobs or under doormats of your assigned houses!
If you'd like to help, sign up for one spot per family (kids of all ages can participate!) and I will contact you to obtain your address so we can try to match you with streets that are close to your home.
From Julie: "My brokerage, Keller Williams Realty, has a city-wide food drive to benefit the Central Texas Food Bank each year. This will be the 24th annual event, and we hope to collect about 16,000 lbs of food. How the program works internally is that KW agents (my group, Austin Portfolio Real Estate, is part of Keller Williams), submit the names of streets in Austin we would like to support, and KW provides the bags. (This is to avoid any one homeowner getting more than one bag on their porch). This year I am the bag-provider for all of Meridian (800 homes) and about 950 homes in Circle C. It really just involves walking around and putting bags on porches. It can be done in an hour or two on a Saturday morning. We had a lot of fun doing it last year. No solicitation or contact is required."
